Social Media Hacks: Twitter

With a 280-character count, Twitter is the perfect platform for quick updates. But, what else can it do for your business? On our second segment of social media hacks, we will give you some of Twitter’s “secret” hacks that can help transform your content and make navigating the platform easier.

Use special keyboard shortcuts. Oh, you bet Twitter has a secret list of shortcuts! Check out the image below on how you can beat the system.

Exclude tweets with links from your search results. Tired of seeing post after post with links as you search for content to retweet? There is a solution for that! Simply, insert your query in the search bar then put “- http” after it and Ta-da! Text-only content appears in your search.

Use Polls. Get creative with your followers and ask them a question. Polls are defaulted to last for 1 day on Twitter. However, you can also have polls last for a minimum of 5 minutes to a maximum of 7 days.

Access your account’s analytics. Want to know how your tweets are performing? Twitter gives you FREE access to analytics where you can see your account’s impressions, engagement, new followers, mentions and more. Simply log in to your Twitter account and click analytics under your “profile and settings” button.

Try Bookmarking posts. Remember seeing a post you wanted to retweet, but now it is lost in the “Twitter-sphere.” Bookmark posts and save them for later by clicking the share icon under the tweet you want to bookmark and then, select “add tweet to Bookmarks”. All bookmarked posts will show up in your profile under the bookmarks tab.

Trends? For me? Twitter allows you to see what is “trending for you.” It automatically populates tweets, hashtags and other stories for you based on the people you follow and content you have liked. You can use this in-app information to find relevant content to retweet or comment on. Just visit the “explore” tab on your Twitter account.

Promote Top Tweets. Just like any good social media platform, Twitter has an advertising option where you can promote tweets via Twitter Advertising. Promoting top tweets allows for greater impressions and engagement, and it can easily fit any budget.
