We sat down with Malinda Hall, a digital advertising expert at Fly Pages, to gain further insight into what she does for our digital marketing agency and what advice she can give about digital advertising.
Q: What is your role at Fly Pages?
A: I am a Digital Advertising Expert and Acquisition Specialist. Basically, I create and manage Meta and Google ad campaigns for our clients.
Q: How has your sales and marketing backgrounds helped you?
A: I graduated with a degree in marketing but began my career in radio sales and then worked in the marketing department of a national new home builder before landing at Fly Pages. My sales experience exposed me to a lot of different businesses, their unique challenges, and how those businesses worked. My time with the new home builder helped me understand more about lead nurturing and what tools the sales team needed to move those leads through the funnel. It also exposed me to how traditional and digital marketing can work together to help boost marketing efforts. This is all valuable experience that has informed my work as a digital advertising expert.
Q: What is your experience working with clients as a digital advertising expert, and how do you ensure their satisfaction and success?
A: We work with our clients to determine their business goals (whether that is long-term or short-term goals) and then create a digital strategy to help them meet those goals. We work with them every step of the way, from helping them determine their targeting, budgets, promotions, timing of promotions, and more.
Then, once we start the campaigns we stay on top of them and are ready to make any adjustments if we see that the performance is not where we’d like it to be. All along the way, we communicate these updates to the client. At the end of the campaign, we always send a digital report that recaps the campaign performance and helps us evaluate the progress towards their business goals. We don’t believe in the “just set it, and forget it” strategy that a lot of agencies use.
Q: How do you stay updated with the latest trends and changes in social media platforms and algorithms, and how do you incorporate this knowledge into your client strategies?
A: As a digital advertising expert, I am always learning as the digital marketing world is fast-paced and constantly changing! To stay informed, we follow the official sources of the platforms we use, as they are always releasing updates and tips. We also follow industry leaders and subscribe to their channels, blogs, etc. for the most recent trends and best practices. We do a lot of ongoing education and workshops as well!
Q: How do you approach creating a digital advertising strategy for a new client? What steps do you take to understand their unique needs and goals?
A: We always start with an initial client meeting to learn more about their business, brand voice, goals, and expectations. We look at their social media history to see what they’ve tried, where they have succeeded, and where they’ve failed. We then perform a competitor analysis to see what type of content their competitors are sharing and how often.
We then look for gaps or areas where the client can stand out. We try to really understand their target audience, what their pain points are, and where they are spending their time online. We can then recommend the most suitable social media platforms based on the client’s goals, target audience, and budget. From there, we develop a content strategy that aligns with the business goals, target audience, and budget.
Q: How do you ensure consistency in branding and messaging across different social media platforms when managing multiple accounts for various clients?
A: We keep brand kits and style guides top of mind when developing content for our clients. We also have multiple team members monitoring what we develop and looking for inconsistencies. We always have our clients approve what we’ve created before we post.
Q: What do you believe sets Fly Pages apart from other digital marketing agencies?
A: I think we do a good job at providing customized service to each of our clients and staying in constant communication with them. We’ve had several clients come to us from different agencies and their primary concern was feeling disconnected from the social media process and struggling to comprehend the outcomes/results. We view ourselves as your partner and an extension of your business and love watching our clients grow and succeed.
Q: What is your favorite part about working at FlyPages?
A: I love helping clients really connect with their audiences through digital platforms. I also love the analytical side of things…you can learn so much about your audience’s wants, needs, and behaviors.
