When it comes to digital marketing trends, taking a look ahead is just as important as taking a look back. According to a study by Ignite Visibility, small and large business marketing dollars were poised to greatly shift from offline to online marketing by 2021. We’ve witnessed that prediction become a reality.
Digital marketing trends: Predictions we’ve seen come true
Of the 300 businesses who contributed to the study, 90% said they would be shifting more of their marketing efforts to digital in the next few years. Digital marketing trends of the day included email, social media, website development, video, search engine optimization (SEO), digital advertising, and more. Of these efforts, social media marketing was the fastest growing tactic that businesses were implementing in their future marketing plans back then.
These days, there is no brand strategy that doesn’t include social media and at least two additional digital marketing channels. As of November 2023, worldwide internet usage averaged 6 hours and 41 minutes each day.
Choose your message wisely. The online consumer is discriminating.
That amount of time spent online gives people exposure to hundreds of paid and organic pieces of content daily. Much of their time is spent on social media.
Social media is an easy form of digital marketing to invest in because you can create content that is purely organic (meaning no paid dollars added) or paid through boosting certain posts. Even paid social media marketing can be a more efficient form of ad spending compared to pay-per-click (PPC) digital advertising, when it’s done right.
Here are the two top trends to watch in 2024
In an increasingly digital world, marketing to people online will be greatly impacted by AI and search algorithm updates. That’s why we’re offering search engine optimization (SEO) as one of our core services.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is more important than ever
SEO helps increase a business’s online presence by increasing traffic to your website through specific keywords and high online rankings. Google prioritizes websites by ranking them by how helpful a site’s content is for searchers, based on their intent. With four broad core algorithm updates in 2023 so far, search giant Google has made SEO a digital marketing trend everyone is going to get behind.
Email marketing personalizes your brand message
While many businesses are stepping back from email marketing to throw more money at ads and SEO, it’s a digital marketing trend that won’t die, because it works. Email marketing takes time because you have to build an email list through sign-ups, referrals, promotions and other form fills. Once businesses have a solid strategy, they are able to broaden their digital reach through email marketing strategies that add a personal touch to a world that grows more impersonal every day.
