It is amazing what social media can do to capture, inspire and connect people together. When it comes to charities and social media, it can be a goldmine for sharing their mission. For businesses, it can be a great way to share their partnerships with nonprofits and encourage their fans to support certain causes.
Here are a few charitable marketing campaigns that warm the heart and utilize social media in creative ways.
Day Without Whopper. It would take a lot for a competitor to support another competitor, but supporting the fight against childhood cancer is definitely a good one. Recently, Burger King announced their “Day Without Whopper” campaign, where they supported McDonald’s by not selling their infamous Whopper and encouraging customers to buy a Big Mac in support of childhood cancer.

Red Nose Day. Since 2015, this campaign has funded multiple programs to help end child poverty. Their creative idea was to encourage people to buy a red clown nose and wear it on “red nose day” in support of childhood poverty. This day has caught the attention of celebrities, teams and other corporations. The campaign also encourages people to post photos of wearing a red nose and using the #rednoseday each year. A brilliant and silly way to help a needed cause.

Apple Product(RED). Their bright red Apple products are easy to spot. Do you own one? For 12 years, Apple has created electronics in the iconic color Red. They created these products in order to help fund programs to support those with HIV/AIDS. So far, this initiative has raised $250 million dollars in support of HIV/AIDS. On social media, they have also created a partnership with World Aids Day. Check it out here >> https://mashable.com/2012/05/25/red-social-media/.
